Christchurch International Airport – Geofabrics

Apollo Projects managed the design and construction of this warehouse, distribution and office facility for a geosynthetics company based at the Dakota Park business estate at Christchurch International Airport .

The 1200m2 warehouse comprises a clearspan steel frame with fibre reinforced concrete floors. The 229m2 office is a simple but attractive design, a combination of steel and timber framing with Aliclad wall cladding and Zincalume roofing. Apollo was also responsible for the design and install of the tenant fit-out.

The facility’s design maximised the developable site, taking into account efficient turning space for heavy vehicles, prevailing winds for warehouse/canopy operations and natural light for office sun glare and heat load efficiencies. Specialised features include a 27m clearspan portal frame; cantilevered canopy over roller doors; reinforced concrete floor slabs in the warehouse to accommodate large pallet storage and racking point loads ; and an expansive service yard to optimise vehicle manoeuvrability and storage.

Negotiated directly with Apollo based on their expertise in the design and construction of warehouse and logistics facilities, this new distribution centre is both an efficient and high-quality facility.
