Apollo Projects was contracted to design & build a large 5,000m² storage warehouse with a 1,500m² freight cross dock station and 300m² office with staff facilities. The complex was constructed on a 15,000m² lot with approximately 14,000mᶾ of concrete placed.
Both the cross dock and warehouse are constructed with a steel frame, colour steel cladding with the warehouse having tilt slab panels to 5m. The construction was staged which allowed the tenant early access to the cross dock facility.
Fliway’s have frequently noted the new cross dock has increased efficiency and speed of unloading the night freight along with sorting and reloading the day time delivery trucks by 4-5 hours.
Both the cross dock and warehouse have post tension slabs which means there is no cutting required – a big advantage in terms of protecting materials handling equipment and freight packages. Two large canopies provide weather protection and the drive around access improves maneuverability and loading efficiency. The office is a modern design with staff facilities including a large outdoor entertaining area. The office is constructed with a steel structural frame, combination of timber and steel framing and titan board cladding.
