Extensions & Refurbishments
We are specialists in working within existing operational environments.
Apollo has considerable experience working within existing facility upgrades, extensions or strengthening programmes.
The ability to successfully undertake construction works while maintaining operations - and in the case of food processing facilities, food grade hygiene standards - is incredibly unique.
Over the years we have taken learnings from each project and implemented them on the next. The result is robust systems and processes which ensure safety, quality and costs are well-managed - which gives clients the trust and certainty they need.
Scoping work within existing facilities is often challenging, often resulting in programme and cost overruns. Apollo's systems and vast experience mitigates this risk for the client. Contrary to industry norms, trust and certainty is exactly what a client can expect from us - particularly when managing Health & Safety and ensuring minimal disruption to existing operations.
We have worked for some of New Zealand's largest corporate companies in some of the most challenging environments including Fonterra, George Weston Foods, Wither Hills, Meadowfresh, Kiwicare, Lion Co., Sanford, Tegel and more. All of these projects required a level of hygiene standard and the need to ensure existing operations were largely uninterrupted.
Projects
Fonterra Edendale
Apollo Projects managed the design and construction of a new Redline Facility for Fonterra, as part of ongoing works at the Edendale processing plant.
The project involved the demolition of the existing facility, establishment of a temporary critical hygiene redline facility for Fonterra staff to use in the interim, and the design and construction of the new building.

Wairau River Wines
In August 2001 Apollo Projects was commissioned by Wairau River Wines to design and build a 1,600m2 winery with associated plant services in Rapaura Road, Marlborough, ready for the 2002 harvest. In the fourteen years following, we have completed eight successful projects together.

Bon Accord
Apollo managed the design and construction of this cleanroom environment within an existing facility for the manufacture of powdered drink products.

Norman Kirk Memorial Pool
Apollo Projects was successfully appointed by Christchurch City Council (CCC), to facilitate the Design and Build of the new Norman Kirk Memorial Pool in Lyttelton, after the original facility was destroyed in the Canterbury earthquakes.

Wither Hills Winery
In 2009 Wither Hills Winery engaged Apollo Projects to manage all aspects of an on-going expansion programme.

What our clients are saying
I am delighted to say that Apollo rose to the challenge and delivered a turnkey solution on time and within budget. They pulled out all the stops.
In all our dealings with Apollo they always acted with the upmost integrity and professionalism. From taking the project brief to consultation with all key stakeholders within our organisation Apollo certainly played a significant role in ensuring that the project was a complete success from every angle.
This project has been completed in about a third of the time it normally takes to design, plan and build a major police station. It’s been an outstanding effort from everyone involved. This is a very different environment from the premises we’ve occupied in the past. It’s modern, spacious and high-tech – and having so many of our staff on one site is encouraging us all to work more collaboratively.
The design team Apollo assembled was first rate and contributed significantly to what has proven to be a first class facility. Apollo’s performance in managing this design process was also to a very high standard. Apollo certainly excels in the incorporation of buildability and construction input into the design process. This ensured that the majority of the design issues were clarified prior to the construction phase on site.
The professionalism that Apollo have shown throughout the Edendale Redline upgrade is to be commended. Their attention to detail ensured that the quality of workmanship from all trade staff involved met the food safety standards required as well as stepwise innovative improvement which met Fonterra’s strategy to be “The World’s most trusted source of dairy nutrition.” This project had a challenging time constraint window which Apollo managed extremely well, and now the site has one of the best redlines in the country.
Apollo Projects were the most outstanding company to deal with. From the initial discussion to the completion of the project they were amazingly professional, very open, transparent and honest and prepared to go the extra yard to make sure all parties were fully informed. Not only that, we were finished a month early and under budget…
