Project Details

Apollo Projects was engaged to design and build a 10,000-tonne greenfield winery with a clear brief: deliver a world-class facility that prioritises efficiency and environmental performance, without compromising on functionality or aesthetics.

The result is a highly efficient, low-impact winery that blends seamlessly into its surroundings while meeting rigorous operational demands. Two 2,400m² production halls were constructed using Kingspan firesafe insulated panels, creating airtight, thermally efficient environments for wine processing.

At the heart of the facility is a central concourse housing the energy centre, equipped with advanced power and energy monitoring systems to enable precise management of consumption across the site. The large receival area and winery “throat” were specifically designed to accommodate the shorter Awatere Valley vintage.

Sustainability was a key driver throughout the project. A wastewater treatment system enables reuse of all winery wastewater on the vineyard, while the office and amenities feature natural lighting, solar water heating, efficient air conditioning, and extensive use of timber from renewable sources.

Apollo’s integrated design and build approach ensured the delivery of a facility that meets high environmental standards while supporting streamlined, high-volume production.
