Apollo Projects Achieves Toitū Net Carbonzero Certification

At Apollo, actively reducing our greenhouse emissions and environmental footprint is a critical part of our journey toward a more sustainable future.

This year, we’re proud to have reached a significant milestone: achieving net carbonzero certification through Toitū. The certification is measured and independently verified to global standards.

Apollo Executive Director Paul Lloyd says the organisation is proud to be environmentally accountable and to have elevated its sustainability practices from carbon reduce to net carbonzero through Toitū.

“We know the construction sector contributes significantly to New Zealand’s total carbon emissions, and we take our responsibility to doing better seriously,” he says.

“With Toitū we’re empowered to make credible, measurable improvements to the environmental impacts of our business, and to continue refining our environmental strategy over time.”

This certification complements Apollo’s environmentally responsive approach to design, which recognises that the most significant sustainability gains can be made during the design phase. As a member of the NZ Green Building Council, Apollo prioritises low-carbon and resilient construction solutions, guided by Green Star principles and ISO-aligned environmental management systems.

This milestone caps off a standout year in sustainability, following Apollo’s delivery of the Maersk cold storage facility at Ruakura Inland Port—New Zealand’s first 6 Green Star rated cold storage facility.

Our environmental commitment

Apollo’s environmental policy is focused on a commitment to managing operations with care, transparency and continuous improvement. We are implementing a reduction strategy to decrease year-on-year emissions to comply with international standards including ISO 14001.
