20th July 2010
Well a few days until competition I thought I should touch base with everyone...
We have had a great build up in the Racice, Czech Republic, training in heat varying from 35-50deg... Slightly hotter than the Waikato winter!!!! We have now arrived in Belarus to an amazing new course and still very warm so we are happy we had the intense heat to adapt back into the summer!
We are at a bit of a stand still here as our boats are stuck on the polish border and are about 4k away but we cannot get to them. So today we have been running and erging to keep the legs fresh but we are all dying to get back onto the water and get to learn the course!
Julia and I are getting very excited as we will be racing against last year’s world champions. They will give us a great run for our money and will give us a very real indication of where we stand with the elite lightweights also.
You watch race viewer on the World Rowing web site (just Google World Rowing) and through one of the tabs you should be able to find results or through live race viewer. We have heats on Thursday the 22nd, semi-finals on Friday the 23rd then Finals on Sunday the 25th July.
